This is a VERY old recipe made modern with lowfat milk, and No added sugar canned peaches. I tried to mimick the type of foods available before modern intervention. If you use fresh peaches, add 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 tsp salt mix and sprinkle over the peaches. Grandma was not afraid of sugar or butter. I'm sure you can experiment and still come out with a good desert.
substitute apple and oats for any fruit or nut or spice that you chose.
I added apple pie spice to this one below. Sub vanilla for lemon extract and add poppy seed. Possibilities are endless.
