BR>What makes them so good you ask? The way you cook them. Boil then brown with a little butter and salt. Perfection I tell ‘ya. And oh so easy, it’d be really hard to mess these up!
Sweet potatoes are a staple for Blood Type O Non-Secretors. Boil them, mash them and add butter and garlic for a fancy take on this regular meal starch.
My take on traditional Senegalese peanut soup. Add pumpkin or other winter squash chunks for even more Fall flavor!
This low-fat carrot tea-cake is incredibly moist - it's for fork-type eating - and is made in one pot on the stove. A unique, crunchy touch from cornmeal and granola make this a snack you'll come back to time and again.
This loaf is all kinds of delicious! Yogurt tenderizes, spelt flakes and flaxseed grab onto moisture, ground walnuts keep the crumb tender, dark brown sugar adds a touch of bittersweet flavour, and chunks of diced apple and walnuts add dimension. Did I mention it has NO ADDED FAT?
I recommend this glaze for a smoked ham only. Putting this on a honey ham would be overpowering.
This recipe is well over 50 years old. My mother got it from a neighbor, Mrs. Hale, who lived down the street from us in Bayview Homes. I guess I was about 6 years old. She had give mama a piece, and that was all it took for her to want to make one. She started out by just making one large one, molding it in a cast iron skillet, wrapping it with a damp towel, and warning everyone to leave it alone for two weeks. Well, it does not need to be left alone for that long. Just overnight is fine...long enough for the butter, and marshmellows to harden up. It was not always the same every year. Some years she might put dried figs in it. Some years she may not have the black walnuts, or the brazil nuts. We never really liked the candied citrus pieces, though. She guarded this one cake to where it lasted throughout the holidays even when company came.
