These were so simple to make and are so delicious!! Don't put cheddar or sour cream on them. Spread them on a grilled corn tortilla or low fat flour tortilla and simply add some spicy salsa verde, tomatoes, lettuce, many veggie garnishes as you want. And so good for you. Love them!
Great recipe!!! Threw it all in the crock-pot last night, turned it to low when I went to bed. Just like sleepmom I blended them with my stick blender. I tasted them and decided to add just a little onion powder and garlic salt. Yummy!! Divided them up and put them in the freezer. Perfect! Thanks!!
Another hit! Great base recipe. To get the bacon flavor I love, I slow render some pork belly, remove from pan, pour off the fat, add evoo to pan, heat up while scraping bottom then add bacon flavored oil to beans. mmmmmm bacon.
This was so easy. It was my first time making beans of any kind and loved it. I think I did not add enough salt 1/2tsp vs 2tsp....not big on salt. My batch came out bland and not sure why I did add cumin and chilli like other did...I can not wait to try again. Thanks
Wonderful! I cooked these overnight and hit them with a stick blender in the morning--smooth and easy. I weighed the whole batch on a gram scale and divided by 8 to get portion sizes. Doubled the garlic, added sage, cayenne, cumin, and allspice, halved the salt and skipped the pepper. Thanks!!
Cooked these for six hours using pinto beans, salt, pepper and garlic. Poured out some water then mashed. These tasted awesome and the garlic made them spicy. Really a fast and great addition if you love refried beans:)
needs just a touch of fat, and some more spices.
Made it again with chicken bouillon. For me, that's the answer.
I wish this said how large a serving is... the flavor is good and I liked it but not knowing how big a serving is made it difficult to determine actual calories, protein, etc...
I love this recipe. It is so adaptable. I made a huge batch and used half for refried beans and the other half for brown rice and beans tomorrow night. I added lime, cilantro, chili, cumin, salt and pepper to the refried bean half.
