This recipe appeared in the June 2010 Relish Magazine of the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Heather Norville and her friends ate these cookies for the first time at the TTU UWC Round Table Book Club’s Potluck Movie Night on June 3, 2010. This is a great gluten free recipe.
June chose a tried and true favorite, a relish or side dish that she has served with ham or barbeque for years. She obtained this recipe from the Better Homes & Gardens Barbecue Book, 1965 edition.

Jean Howze chose one her family's favorite recipes for family get-togethers and holidays. You can make this recipe ahead of time and freeze it. Everyone loves it (even if they have never eaten sweet potatoes). This dish is very sweet. It could almost be a dessert.

This is an easy and tasty dinner made with ingredients you probably have in the pantry and or freezer. I have seen lots of chile-chicken recipes online but each one I tried, I didn't like the spice combo. So I took three different ones and combined the parts I liked and changed the ones I didn't like: I reduced the fat content, made it gluten-free, added caramelized onions and more spices. It has great flavor but is not too hot, spice-wise. You could bump up the heat by adding some red pepper flakes.
