This dish is easy to make. Grab a can of your favorite chili and prepare to wow your guests.
Bring 2qrts water to boil add sugar cinnamon, raisins, green onion, and apple to cook. Toast bread buttered on both sides. Break bread into 1 inch peices Grease a 9x13 pan with butter. Chop the pecans a rough chop is ok. Make sure that all the raisins in the pan are in there. You may leave about half out and layer in with the cheese. Layer with bread, cheese nuts and the syrup from the boiled ingredients. Bake for 20-30 minutes at 350. This a mexican tradition for the season of lent. Mostly eaten on Fridays and days of fasting.
I had this in an Equadoran restaurant and loved it so much. It tastes so fresh, and has little fat. Delicious for a party food.
In my experimenting this fell into place and is yummy for anytime of the day. You can add whatever you like to it ie: jalepenos, lowfat cheese etc.

I got this recipe from Kraft years ago. My family loved it but I was shocked to see how much fat and calories per serving. I have since revamped the recipe using low carb tortillas and low fat cheese. Saves almost 600 calories with the recipe remake!
