They aren’t going to give you a sugar crash. BUT, if you DO want a sugar crash, you can probably replace 1/4 cup of applesauce with a dry sweetener like brown sugar or white sugar. You try with maple syrup but I think it might get really liquidy (let me know if you try though!)
