Here is a great recipe for old fashioned biscuits...and I do mean old.
It was found in an 1842 diary of Alice Stephans. She stated that it had been in her family for generations. She baked them in a Dutch oven and sometimes used what we now know as a "reflector fire." I use this recipe when camping and it is GREAT!
This salad is a nice change from the traditional potato salad. It's easy and will go well with anything you BBQ. I like my salads with a great dressing and you will love this one!
I have said that I could eat peanut butter and dirt. I love the flavor of peanuts and together with the slaw and game hens, these recipes are really good. It fairly simple and makes a great meal for entertaining. It looks really impressive! Cutting the backs out of the hens really make them easy to grill. They cook quickly and it makes them easy to eat as well.
This is a take on the orginal bean salsa but a little more friendly on calories for the same amount of serving
This is one of my favorite "easy dinners'. Made with the thin sandwich rounds instead of the buns, this cuts calories, and the spicy brown mustard gives the burger the kick you want!
One of my favorites from a Tex-Mex restaurant in my hometown, altered slightly for my dietary needs! Hope you enjoy!
A simple salad, great for picnics!
You can add other things as well. Red onions add color and flavor (not included in nutritional info)!
My German grandmother used to make this salad all summer. If you prep the night before, it takes 5 minutes to toss together and pop in the fridge. Good as a stand alone meal or side.
This is my favorite "diet" dessert. It's made with sugar free pudding and sugar-free cool whip. You can substitute the pudding with any other sugar free flavor (i.e. vanilla, butterscotch, cheesecake) and with generic brands. Same with the cool whip!
This is my chili that I learned to cook with my mom....the only problem is that my husband doesn't seem to consider it chili. either way it's really tasty and works really well with cornbread.
Mother-in-law went overboard one day when she went grocery shopping and came home with a ton of bratwurst that was "on-sale"...had to find different ways to cook it so that i didn't get board with it...luckily hubby's not a big drinker but he does like beer.
This can leave out the tuna and be vegetarian--it is loaded with protein and good carbs!
This recipe is a fairly basic chili that I can get my family to eat. I had to get a BIG pot to fit it all in but when I make it we freeze about 1/2 for future meals
This is my grandmother's recipe for spinach pie, everyone in my family, including the people who don't like spinach, loves it. It's a great dish to bring to a pot luck, and it's really easy to suit to specific needs. I've made it gluten free by getting specific pie crusts, and vegetarian by switching to egg-substitute.
