Delicious mock baby ruth bars my mom used to make when I was little. You can add a cup of butterscotch chips to the topping if you want more authentic flavor, but not everyone likes butterscotch chips, so it is optional.
I slightly modified my Grandmother's bread pudding recipe. I reduced the amount of sugar and it is still a sweet dessert. I think I could reduce the sugar even more. I also eat only wheat bread anymore, so I use this recipe when I have 5 or 6 crusts getting stale. Stale bread works best in bread pudding, and I don't feel like I'm wasting anything.
