A non-chocolate treat for my husband who is allergic to chocolate (I know-how tragic!). They have a taste that reminds me of caramel or butterscotch with out actually being either. The texture is similar to a gooey brownie. I calculated the recipe with canola oil, but the original recipe calls for 1/2 c. margarine. I would imagine butter to be the best tasting though--with the brown sugar it would add to the caramely taste of the recipe.
