Sandwich Recipes (Most Popular)
I took bits and pieces of various recipes to come up with this tasty variety.
My take on a sloppy joe. My husband loves this version and says it has the taste of a manwich but much better! Cost effective and a lot healthier. Add a whole grain sandwich bread, I highly recommend Arnold's sandwich thins. It will add 100 calories but also some fiber. Pair with a nice green salad.
I got this recipe from allrecipes.com and have found that you get thicker, better tasting bread with fewer calories than store bought bread...and it's WAY cheaper!
I rarely have leftovers; this has been a favorite for two generations. Goes together quickly, too!
This is an April 2020 Covid-19 stay-at-home-inspired bread. Very dense, delicious and nutritious. So healthy you shed 1 year with each bite. I'm entering 4th grade next year.
Special Equipment: Covered Dutch Oven cast-iron pot of good quality (i.e. Le Cruset); 2 Cotton towels but not terrycloth because the fibers will stick to the dough; Cooling wire rack or other cooling surface that will allow air to flow around your baked bread; Because there are 20 hours of inactive time, we make the dough in the evening so we have freshly baked bread for the next evening.
Hints:
1. When adding water to dry ingredients, mix thoroughly but dough will be coarse, lumpy and craggy - not smooth like a regular dough. If dough is too sticky, just add a little more flour. If too dry, add more water a tablespoon at a time. Bread dough is very forgiving.
2. Do not use a fat (butter or oil) in the dutch-oven pot. Leave it dry. Bread does not need a fat, and it will NOT stick in the pot.
3. Don't have all of the nuts or seeds? Don't use them or add ones you do have. Improvise!
From the Butterball Kitchen. Create new wraps by using a different spread such as flavored cream cheese and changing the fresh vegetables and cheese.
I was using up sourdough starter discard and adapted a King Arthur recipe. It does use yeast as well to give if the rise and lightness. This was exceptionally light and tasty!

A great alternative to high calorie hamburgers. So yummy and few enough calories I added cheddar cheese on top.
this is great when your tired of sandwiches. You can make this ahead of time and unlike bread. it wont get soggy. You can add cheese if you wish or instead of ceasar dressing you can add avocado or hummus. Either or are great variations.
