I came up with this after really wanting hummus but not having garbanzo beans or tahini in the house. It's fantastic with pita bread, raw veggies or in a wrap with chopped red bell pepper and olives.
I've recently soaked up Brendan Brazier's fantastic book, The Thrive Diet, which had some luscious recipes for energy bars. He also wrote about the nutritional benefits of soaking the nuts and seeds overnight, then rinsing well, before grinding for energy bars and other recipes. Here's my version.
Creamy and Yummy dip and spread - use it instead of mayo on your favorite sandwich! Vegan, dairy-free.
These are a tasty appetizer. I veganized a recipe that people I knew had before with meat and gave them out. They didn't know the difference. I'm willing to bet that neither will you. We usually double the recipe. Another alternative is to use it on a cornbread pizza crust instead of using it in the ball form.
This nutritious "pudding" can be found in the book "Becoming Vegan" on page 194. Since it's copywritten I won't post anything more than this. In locations in the recipe where there is a range for an ingredient, it is done with the higher end of the ingredient numbers.
