This is my favorite cake to make. I can bake a few in less than an hour. The apple sauce is a healthier alternative to vegetable shortening.
These are wonderful with added glace or dried fruits, nuts, anything else you have on hand. I also took cinnamon red hots and crushed them, adding them to the dough. It is a lovely red touch, and surprise taste that is a big hit. I have been making variations of this for over 20 years.
pre heat oven to 400 degrees
cook 17-20 minutes until tooth pick comes out clean
These treats are lower in sugar, fat, and cholesterol than your average chocolate chip cookies. They also have additional protein and fiber. With less than 70 calories per cookie you can enjoy them guilt free. Easy and quick to make, you won't break you back to impress your friends and and family.
it's a cake...think pound cake, so i'm not claiming it's healthy. however, much of the fat comes from healthy sources, it's higher in protein than most desserts, and it's really delicious without frosting or anything else being added.
It's not low fat or calories but its our family favorite Birthday cake, so I wanted to know the calorie count for it.
