If you wanted to make the recipe healthier, you could substitute Olive Oil for Canola Oil, Light Soy Sauce instead of regular Soy Sauce and Splenda in place of Granulated Sugar. My family loves to add a 4 oz can of small shrimp to boost the protein sometimes too.

This healthy, quick and easy alternative to the traditional taco salad is full of flavor and low in calories and fat. Feel free to use reduced fat shreadded cheese in place of the regular version. Omit the peppers and onions if you're not a fan. You can also add black olives, if you prefer.

I have played with this recipe to cut calories...1/2c mayo instead of 3/4c, turkey bacon not real bacon, and a sugar sub. instead of 1/2 c sugar.
