This soup is from the diet of the "Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital". It is used in their cardiac care unit for overweight heart patients to lose weight prior to surgery.
It was fridge cleaning day and we winged (yeah, bad pun) this soup together. It came out so good I both had to save it for myself and share it with you all.

this is a very hearty vegetable soup that is low in calories. You can use low sodium bouillon if you are watching you sodium intake! It is a great meal or snack.
Add broth and juice in large pot, crush tomatoes and add. Chop celery and onion and add. Open all other cans and add - I would have prefered more fresh vegetables to cut the sodium content way back but it's a holiday and everything is closed so I used what was in my pantry. I put all the spices except the bay leaves in a mortar and pestal and pulverized and added to the pot along with the bay leaves. Brought everything to a boil and let simmer over low heat covered for about a half hour. Remove bay leaves. Add the pasta about 10 minutes before you are going to serve.
This recipe is a good one for a cold, rainy day. It works equally well on the stove or in a crockpot.
