This is a salad that I found in a book and found it is one that everyone just loves once they try it. A lot of people don't like sauerkraut but once they try this they are really surprised.
I have altered it it calls for sugar but I use Splenda.
Delicious, nutrient packed salad. The oil can be ommitted to reduce the fat content.
This recipe was adapted from http://www.smittenkitchen.com and it was adapted from http://orangette.blogspot.com. It is delicious, as are all their recipes. I have lowered the amount of oil and tahini to lower the fat content.
My sister made this recipes and I became addicted. I also made is for speech class and everyone loved it and ate it in 5 seconds, even though they were very skeptical at first. Great to take to work or make as an afternoon snack for kids.
I got the idea for this by watching Hungry Girl and decided I'd experiment with chicken and making it scoopy :-)!
The ingredients might sound strange, but this stuff is delicious and great for potlucks, picnics, and holiday parties. Takes about 5 minutes to mix this together, or make it the night before and toss it in the fridge for even less stress on big cooking holidays.
There are a couple other recipes for watergate salad on the site, but none has cottage cheese, which in my opinion is necessary.
This dish is low in saturated fat, and I calculated it to be about 10 BIG servings. If you portion it out into smaller servings, it'll be even less calories.
I'm totally open to (and hoping for) suggestions on how to lower the sugar content of this dish.
