Good fiber/low carb/low glycemic bread for diabetics. A nice flavor, and the texture is moist and very dense, almost like a pudding bread. Add nuts, raisins, apples or even pineapple as an option.
This is a tasty low carb, low fat, low sugar alternative to peanut butter cookies.
Three small frozen banana, broken into chunks before freezing.
Three cups of sliced frozen unsweetened peaches broken apart if they have frozen together.
Place these two ingredients in Cuisinart or very strong blender. Pulse until mostly smooth mush forms.
Add 1-1/2 cups of plain fat free yogurt, 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract, and 1/2 tsp of powdered ginger spice.
Pulse until uniform color. This made 7 cups or 14 1/2 cup servings. I froze 10 - 1/2 cup freezer pops, and 2 -- 8 oz Ball Freezer containers. Each half cup was 51.4 calories, and the one cup containers were 102.8 calories. A real bargain, and very healthy.
This recipe is from Ellie Krieger from Cooking Channel. I adjusted the recipe to what we had, please see teh cooking channel website for the full recipe. I altered it to serve two for our Valentines day dinner.
The banana part of this recipe came from March Health magazine. Added the vanilla frozen yogurt for a nice treat!
A yummy quick sweet treat for the lactose intolerant. There's a little milk in the chocolate chips but that's the only dairy! A good dessert for the vegetarian too.
This carrot muffin is tasty and is great hot out of the oven or cooled. Healthy!
Nice creamy peach flavor. Great way to stay on track when you crave ice cream. No ice cream maker required. I froze it in ice cup trays for portion control and quicker freezing. There is nothing like the fresh peach flavor. You can probably substitute other fruit for the fresh peaches.
Possible substitutes I haven't tried yet are using
Lowfat yogurt for Buttermilk
Splenda for sugar
Other fruit for peaches
Very satisfying. Great for Dukan diet or less than 200 cals per portion
This is a very simple but lovely oaty banana dessert for those days when you need something sweet but healthy
Flax seed and fat free sour cream is the twist. Dark chocolate chips for extra antioxidants. Can even substitute egg beaters though I have not tried that version.
Tip: for even more fiber, add 3 tablespoons of fibersure or benefiber.
Using pop in cakes has been around for a long time, I think people forget that this is the best way to cut out unnecessary calories and fat.
My mom used to make this all the time, it's one of my favorites. I tweaked it to be spark friendly using low fat sour cream and sugar free jello, but it still tastes amazing!
Like eating a Reese's PB cup (or two). You could add artificial sweetener or sugar if you wanted, but you don't really need to -
