This dish is really easy, especially if you make it in the rice cooker and has a nice mildly curried flavour. If you don't have Garam Masala (indian allspice) some ground coriander also gives it a bit of a different kick.
I make this for breakfast but can be eaten anytime. It is very light and easy to digest. You can eat it as is or with 1-2 tbsp of fat-free plain yougart. I make this much it feeds two people (1 cup serving) for a week.
Not recommended - it was good, but I threw this together out of what we had in the house.
A dry and lightly-spiced fresh-tasting dal and vegetable curry from south India
The original recipe was called 6-ingredient Indian Butter Chicken by RAIN454. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful recipe. I am just putting the additions and alterations that I made so that I do not forget.
Really delicious. Use low fat mayonnaise to lower fat content and calorie count.
This is a great Chai recipe with its own homemade chai mix. Although the spices are ground, they give the same effect as long as the spices are fresh. I would recommend trying to find a wholesale spice store so that you do not pay to much for the spices needed. This recipe can cost in excess of $45 for the first time buy of the spices.
This is a flavorful recipe with the goodness of eggplants and tomatoes combined. It can be eaten as a side dish to add spiciness to a salad, soup or sandwich or Indian style with dal and rice or chappati. If you have all the ingredients, the cooking time is quick.
This recipe literally lives up to the name. I'm was just super hungry & needed more protein & fiber for today, plus I wanted to make something I could munch on throughout the rest of the week. I made a huge pot of jasmine rice to go with it (b/c I'm out of basmati).
Also, I get all my spices from the bulk section of Central Market, it's super cheap & perfect for infrequently used ingredients, you just spend like 50 cents on a little baggy of each. I just happened to have leftovers of all these I used, hence the hodgepodge. This is a great recipe to experiment w/ the necessary herbs & spices.
From CookingLight. I used less chicken, broth and wine, deleted the oil all together but used the same amount of spices. Very tasty. Served over rice with homemade low cal raita. A delicious dinner
North Indian vegetable curry. Using the cashews is a must for this recipe. (I know because when I made it for a friend allergic to nuts and omitted the cashews, the dish was actually almost not edible! ^_-)
