The original recipes calls for pancetta, I never use pancetta in this recipe and I don't miss it or the added calories. I did didnt have green beasn this time and rthose i do miss. As for the pasta if i have leftover rice or pasta I will throw a little of that in it. I never put pasta in my soup because it tends to soak up all the liquid so I make pasta on the side.
