This is based on experiments with Martha Stewart's oven risotto. It is yummy with a green salad and hotbread
This is my adaptation of a recipe sent to me by one of my girlfriends - thanks, Debbie! I have used whole grain flour and honey. Note - in Italy, butter is never salted!
Lots of yummy "itaiian" ingredients and easy too.
Everyone I've made it for loves it and wants the recipe.
All the ingredients are at Trader Joes
Add chooped onion to olive oil, cook for 5 minutes, add garlic for 1 minute. Add tomato paster and i can off water to pan and simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir often or it will burn.
Add 2 large cans of crished tomatoes and 1 large can of water.
Add 1 cup of apple sauce
Add spices plus pepper
Simmer for about 1 hour.
Add grated cheese
simmer and stir for about 1 1/2 hours.
Serve over your favorite pasta or use for eggplant parm
I use oven ready noodles. otherwise par boil noodles
can also you large pasta shells (I cannot get them where I live)
Not sure if this qualifies as vegetarian.
