Everyone has a different name for these. My boyfriend grew up calling them "bumpy cookies," and some people just call them "chocolate oatmeal cookies." But in my family, they were always MAMMAW COOKIES! yum!
Makes 3 loaves so you can freeze 2. I have used Splenda to cut the calories but the loaf tends to be drier and crumbles a bit.

Nothing like the real thing! I mix Olive Oil and Butter to keep the oil from scorching and give it a good flavor. I do use popcorn salt not the regular table stuff. It does make a difference.
My family loves this spread with extra garlic and a little sprinkle of Tony Cacheres spicy seasoning. It is great with pretzels, crackers or on a grilled cheese sandwich. This is the original recipe and my next step will be to reduce the fat but keep the taste. Only time will tell

Not overly sweet like store-bought muffins or those from a prepared box mix. Moist, chewy, nutritious and versatile! Sometimes it will be part of my breakfast, but usually a filling snack. I freeze them in individual baggies to keep moist, then gently warm for 7 seconds after thawed.
