My grandmother makes this dish and she sometimes add ham and sausage. Today 12/11/11 she only used bacon, medium to large shrimp rice and seasonings

Something I cooked up this fall with things lying around the pantry, but VERY good. I love it with baked acorn squash. I have used brown sugar or honey to good effect. Splenda would work too. It's pretty flexible. If you a like a thicker sauce, add less water, or cook it a little longer to thicken it.
This recipe is very simple & can easily be doubled or tripled depending on the number of people you are serving. It's one of my family's favorite side dishes!
