You can use any hot sauce if you prefer one over another. The hot sauce I add in at the very end a take tastes to make sure there is a little spicy after kick to the soup. When I make a large pot, about one gallon of soup, I usually end up using close to a 1/2 - 3/4 bottle of hot sauce, but like I said, I like it with a kick!
I modified this recipe to include a lot more protein. I cooked it overnight in the slow-cooker and I'll be honest, I should have used fresh cauliflower. I would recommend that.
Easy to make, put meat in crock pot, add onion, salt and pepper to taste. Peel potato add to crock pot, then put in baby carrots about 1 cup

Warm, filling and SO easy to make! Sodium is a bit high but that can be controlled by using a low sodium ham (which I did NOT do in this recipe).
I serve this with light sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, and flour tortillas on the side, so everyone can assemble their own, and I can skip the added fats and carbs of the cheese and tortillas.
