I came up with this recipe because I was looking for a light moist banana bread. I took several banana cake and banana bread recipes and modified them to give me this recipe. It's made with Splenda but a bit of molasses and cocoa powder is added for flavour (both are optional, but are included in nutritional information calculations).
A crunchy spicy alternative to chips. Have fun playing with the spices: add garlic, fresh basil, parsley, Italian spices, etc. Always taste it before you dehydrate: if it tastes good then it will only test better once you dehydrate it! Cooking time is dehydrator time.
I did not have all the ingredients that I wanted to make these. Next time I would like to use agave instead of the honey. I then divided it into the right ratio to get about 180 calories. Next time I am going to include some protein powder to up the protein content.
We served this recently for a party and it was a huge hit. Hubby even said he's eat this for dinner some night with a nice salad, Enjoy!

Although the nuts give it a high fat content, it is all good fat. The oats give it great fiber and add some protein powder to boost the protein content and you have a fabulous snack bar that is healthy and delicious!
