The staple foods for Native Americans are the combination of corn or maize, beans and squash which were called 'The Three Sisters".

Most every meal contains at least one or all three of these foods.

Native people planted the three plants together such that the beans grew on the tall stalks of the corn, while the squash formed a ground cover to protect the plants from weeds.

They grew corn or maize, for hominy and dried it to make corn meal. Flour for bread was made from dried, ground acorns.

They had plantations and grew potatoes, pumpkins, beans, tomatoes, peppers, sassafras, muscadines, blackberries, raspberries, other wild berries and wild onions.

My take on Alfredo sauce - without the saturated fat. This recipe is pretty easy to manipulate - you can add more parmasean cheese (or romano cheese), black pepper and garlic to taste. You can't even taste the tofu, but by adding it, it gives it a source of protein therefore making it vegetarian!

(This is my first recipe I have ever added - it is pretty straightforward, and can easily be changed to your liking... please be kind LOL)
