This is Sugar Free to the extent that no Sugar has been added. Nutritionally there are some sugars from the pineapple and apple sauce and even the cake mixe which is suppose to be sugar free. The Carbs are pretty low or exceptable for a snack. I looked at 1/3 fat cream cheese and it was lower in fat and calories but higher in carbs and sugars. You could go with a sugar free or fat free whipped topping and lighten this up. The nuts event though just a few do add extra calories. I made the serving size larger than the cake mix because I think it is more realistic to cut 15 sqaures from a 13 X 9 cake pan. This is not a big fluffy cake because of the moisture and replacing the oil and egg with diet soda and apple sauce.
I'm experimenting with using the new Sara Lee sandwich thins as a crust. I'm making this up as I go along. It might be a huge disaster and waste of money.
