This recipe is one that my family has been making for years. I'm not sure where it originated. It seems like my grandma saw it in a newspaper and adapted it for my picky eater brother.
I know that Tai Pei foods are not sold every where. There is only one store here that sells it. You can leave it out or try something in place of it.
This is a recipe from Steamykitchen.com that I've tweeked a little. Back and white sesame seeds make this a really pretty dish. If I'm in a hurry, I use Newman's Own Sesame Ginger Dressing but I've also made the lime ginger dressing from the website.
This variation on shepherd's pie is topped with quinoa instead of potatoes for added protein (5.5 g per serving). The beets are sweet and add tons of iron (10.5% DV per serving).
I got this recipe from Recipezaar (#22275) and modified it a bit. It's amazing and very easy to make.
When serving, use the gravy mix to put over mashed potatoes and serve with broccoli or corn.
