This is my husband's mother's recipe for a traditional German spice cookie. She made it for years and her little boy always looked forward to it for Christmas. Now that she's passed away, I continue the tradition in her honor. This is not an easy recipe to make, it takes time to prepare and to allow it to "cure" over the course of two to three weeks.
Those are actually German Pancakes, but since Pancakes are very different between Germany and the American parts of the world, we will stick with crepes. Those are very basic, I like to mix them up with either something sweet like honey or something healthy like spinach and top it with applesauce or feta cheese,depending on the mood. Just add the missing ingredient into the dough and chose toppings at will.
This recipe packs a punch on protein. It is fast and easy to make and incredibly versatile.
The whole wheat flour makes it more tart, So taste before frying.

Family recipes that is made to go inside homemade crepes. It is also good to sprinkle the crepe with a bit of sugar.
These crepes are a family favorite and I put a cottage cheese/sour cream filing inside. You could use low fat substitutes to make it lighter.
Cook onions in oil, when soft add mushrooms. Add 1 cup beef bouillion, 1/4c balsamic vinagar and let simmer 10 min.
Mix sour cream, 2 Tbs cream and all other ingredients. Slowly stir into beef broth mixture and let simmer about 20 minutes.
Mix up one egg and stir some hot liquid into it, then whip into stroganoff to thicken it.
Salt and pepper beef chunks and cook in oil 2 min on each side for rare or more if you like it cooked more. Toss together and serve over cooked, mashed, cauliflower or whole wheat noodles if you arn't counting carbs.
We make this dish using venison keilbasa which is not in the nutritional tracker...I used just venison since that is closer in calories to venison keilbasa then even turkey keilbasa
my parents make beerocks a few times a year. a great "soup" is inspired by traditional beerocks. Great on a cold day.
just an idea to use some deer meat and make an easy meal (any meat can be substituted)
This recipe is a good one to expirement with. You may want to add corn, sun dried tomatoes or other veggies. Red wine vinegar might add a little zing. I look forward to seeing your suggestions. This recipe makes a lot, sot it good for a potluck, sharing with a shut-in or freezing.
