This is a copy of Panera Bread's orchard harvest salad, which I just can't get enough of! A tasty salad of romaine lettuce, dried cherries, gorgonzola, and pecans.
This salad dressing goes great with the Biggest Loser's Spinach Salad with Pears and Pomegranate
The seafood salad at the deli is too expensive, & we can't control what dressings they use. This is a cheaper & healthier option. (I recommend using a light Miracle Whip instead. I just didn't have any on hand.)
Fast and healthy for an elegant summer lunch or dinner. Add crusty wheat baguette if you like.
My friend Helaine brought this to a potluck one evening, and had me at the first bite. I increased the garlic and red pepper in the recipe, which should NOT be eaten before a job interview or hot date. It is savory and pungent.
Similar to tabbouleh but made with brown rice instead of bulgur or quinoa.
My friend gave me this recipe but when I was making in we decided we liked it very tart - with no sugar, but none of the recipes here were made that way, so I had to add mine to the list!
We didn't feel like cooking potatoes or macaroni to make a salad to go with our half subs, so we came up with this out of the cupboard instead. Not bad for a quick throw together!
Horrors! I only had 350 calories for dinner, and nothing in the house that fit without work. So I worked! This came out pretty good. The original idea was to wrap it in lettuce leaves, but turns out what I thought was lettuce in a produce bag in the fridge, was actually green onions. So I just ate the salad. Yumm!
My apologies - I don't really know what a compote is! I just like the sound of it. This is sort of a breakfast fruit salad.
A fresh fruit salad that includes a little bit of everything. Absolutely wonderful.
This salad is a wonderful sweet and sour mix. Makes a great lunch by itself or with some grilled chicken or packaged tuna. Also added sliced almonds and tomatoes, not figured into nutritional values.
There are probably numerous recipes like this, but I made this one off the top of my head. It's great cold but can also be served warm.
