I read about these delicious comfort sandwiches being served at the Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY in American Profile. They provided a recipe and I decided to try to lighten them up. This recipe is by Jean Kressy, Asburnham, Mass., published in American Profile magazine from July 11-17, 2010.
This will be the easiest & best tasting italian beef. There's not much to it.

Make 6 jars of 250 ml. Calculated portion of 1/2 tablespoon. I use a mix of little red hot peppers and jalapeno green pepper for this recipe. Sweet and spicy hot!
Bread machines are so 90's,but in attempt to eat less processed food, it works well. It is also a crazy dense bread so a little really does go a long way.
This recipe is from Bread Machine Baking by Lora Brody and Millie Apter. The original recipe called for 3 tablespoons of powdered non-fat milk. I didn't have that so I opted to reduce the water and use regular skim milk. Seemed to have worked well.
This recipe is from Artisan Bread in 5 Minutes a Day and makes 3 small loaves, each yielding 12 slices each. I adapted it a bit to use what I had at home.
