80% beef and a full can of soup is used, however, juices are drained off after cooking. fat and calories in nutrition profile doesn't reflect that... so I rewrote it with x-lean ground beef and 8 ounces of soup.

This recipe is adapted from Big Oven.com's crockpot recipe for Vegetarian Split Pea Soup. Vegetarians/Vegans who are unconcerned about sodium intake may use all vegetable broth. I was unable when I went to the store this time to find unsalted vegetable broth (I shop at Walmart). The original recipe also includes 1/4 cup of snipped parsley. I have left it out--it was probably included to intensify the color, add some flavoring and as a nutrient boost. If you want to add it to this recipe, go ahead.
This is a recipe my boss gave me. He was endlessly tweaking it and this is my version (I removed bell peppers from the original recipe since both my husband and I don't like the taste of bell peppers in cooked dishes).
I recommend a large crock pot for this recipe. A smaller crock pot won't have enough room.
This has some heat to it, but you can opt for the milder seasoning, eliminate or reduce the Tabasco and/or replace the habanero with a milder pepper. I like flavorful heat and this recipe has it in spades!
