Not your average summer salad, this is a healthy take on a much higher calorie version served long ago at the Heidel House in Green Lake, WI. It works well instead of coleslaw or potato salad at a cookout or picnic.
Tastes like a Snickers, but made with ingredients that are good for you! These are a heart-healthier Valentine's treat.
EASY!! This is somewhere between a peach crisp and a peach cobbler (minus the oats). I use this recipe when I have too many peaches that are ready to go bad. Serve with a dollop of lite cool whip.
This is a whole grain, low calorie version of the Fannie Farmer cookbook muffin. Oatmeal, whole grain four, and Splenda is used instead of pastry flour and sugar. You could further cut it using egg substitute and oil instead of butter. I raised my kids on this muffin recipe - and have since made it a bit more healthy.
The vegetables can marinate for a couple of hours, so all you'll have to do at party time is arrange them on a platter and top with olives and cheese. Immediately place the prepared vegetables in the marinade so they won't discolor. Be sure to use fresh mozzarella, which comes packed in water and is usually found with the specialty cheeses. Coarsely chop leftovers and toss with pasta for a cold salad.
This crock-pot meal-in-one is a perfect Cuban-style dish. It’s sweet and tangy, with tons of vitamins and beta carotene to boot! Turn it on before work, and when you come home the whole house will smell like the Caribbean stopped by for dinner!
This recipe is better than the original and it's without the eggs and oil. The flaxseed paste gives the needed body, and imparts a nice mild nutty flavor that compliments the pumpkin.
This makes 2 servings. You can either freeze it and make ice cream out of it since it is THICK or u can eat it with a spoon.
A hearty meal full of protein and fiber. You can make this lighter by decreasing the amount of cheese you use. You can also leave out the chicken for a yummy vegetarian option.
This is a fast and easy recipe that tastes like a special occassion. The red wine can be replaced with 2 tablespoons of vinegar and water topped up make 1/2 cup. The Splenda may be replaced with brown or white sugar. Nutrition info is for Splenda, not sugar.
There are several recipes similar to this, but I prefer this one because it contains no butter or mayonnaise. This recipe also works well with orange roughy or catfish and can be easily doubled.
A lower calorie brownie with a chocolate-butterscotch taste This recipe recommends the use of a special flavoring called butavan, which has a butterscotch-like flavor. It can be ordered online, but is difficult to find in stores. If you prefer, you can omit the butavan and just use pure vanilla extract and/or butter flavoring then substitute the chocolate chips for butterscotch chips for about 5 more calories per serving to get a similar flavor. Or, skip the butterscotch flavor and just use vanilla and butter flavoring. :)
I came across this recipe over 3 years ago, and since then it's the only marinade I've used for Flank Steak. We love it and so does everyone we have prepared it for!
My family and I love the appetizer dip with the artichoke hearts and spinach with tortilla chips!! I went on a quest for a recipe that tasted like eating out. I love this one, please try it!!
Good basic chili recipe that's quite quick and tasty. Add fat-free sour cream and/or reduced fat shredded sharp cheddar for an even better taste. I got this from recipezaar, but changed from ground beef to turkey.
