Kohlrabi pickles

Very Good 4.0/5

Kohlrabi pickles

This is a slight tweaking of a recipe I found on restaurantwidow.com. I tried to minimize the salt to keep the sodium levels in check. It came out delicious! My 5-yr-old couldn't stop eating them, when I made it for the first time yesterday, and she is already begging me to make it again. They are the perfect snack because they are full of nutrients with hardly any calories; they taste delicious, and have a very satisfying crunch. If you've never tried kohlrabi, you don't know what you're missing!Submitted by: BESEVEN

These take a bit of "curing" time in the fridge, but as soon as you bite into a crunchy, perfectly aged sour garlic dill you'll forget all about the wait! Makes about 3 lbs of pickles - use small, "warty" cukes if you can get them!Submitted by: JO_JO_BA

No-Salt Dill Refrigerator Pickles

found this recipe on the low sodium gourmet website.

These dill pickles will cure your pickle cravings. Unlike bread and butter pickles, these pickles are not sweet, and they have a classic dill pickle flavor. Great on sandwiches or as a healthy snack all by themselves. These pickles will keep in the refrigerator for about eight weeks. They can be eaten after two days of pickling, but they taste best after a week or more. This recipe should not be used for pressure or hot water canning.Submitted by: 4LMHJCR

Ham Sandwich, Pickles, Cheese, Jello

Ham Sandwich, Pickles, Cheese, Jello

The brands make all the difference! The Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh ham is only 45 calories and 1 gram of fat for 6 slices! You can add mustard if you like. The bread is 100 calories a slice with lots of fiber and protein to keep you full. I'd rather a large slice of bread like this one, but that's a personal preference as I'm a volume eater. The becel light margarine is the best I've found that tastes great. It's a total of 35 calories for a teaspoon on each slice of bread. This was the biggest change for me, as I used to use TONS of margarine or butter, but I realize that if I spread this margarine thinly, it still has flavour and moistness to the bread (I don't like Mustard).
Pickles are 4 calories for 2 slices, but they are high in sodium, but I like them. I suppose if you were super healthy you could have cucumber slices or a low calorie vegetable, but I'm not there yet. The Weight watches cheese strings are amazing!!! 50 calories of complete salty yumminess. The 95% fat free Cool Whip is only 8 calories a tablespoon, and it makes a big difference on the 10 calorie jello. Who knew an 18 calorie dessert could be yummy?! This is my 352 calorie lunch :) Submitted by: KATEATONIC
