This is intended to be a full meal rather than a snack. It's high fiber, sugar-free, and lactose-free and contains only healthy fats. (The almond milk is homemade, the almond meal the residue from the milk.)
The color of this smoothie is actually pink or purple-ish, but I think the kale qualifies it as a green smoothie nonetheless :)
This Couscous mix can be served in a bowl or serve w/ lettuce cups for a middle-eastern style supper. Also great for lunches, reheats well!
Hummus with a nutrional kick--Spinach adds Folate and Iron to an already protien-packed snacking staple. Serve with celery and carrot sticks and a couple of whole grain pita chips to turn this dip into a first class snack.
Lately I've noticed that I've been unsuccessful with my diet because of my major chocolate cravings. I could tear through a large bag of peanut butter M&M's in a day. I don't even want to know how many calories that was. To help keep my chocolate cravings at bay, I created this smoothie recipe. I have one every morning and it's really helped to curb my appetite for sweets. If you've never used Vega before you may want to add a little bit of sweetener (I originally used Agave Nectar but Honey will do as well) and a little bit of Cocoa powder. Taste the smoothie before adding these though because the sweetener will add more calories. Enjoy!
When my son was 4, we found out he had a milk allergy. One of his favorite meals was spaghetti, but I noticed most jars of tomato sauce had cheese in them. This recipe is what I've been making for him for the past 10 years, my family loves it. It does seem a smidge high in sodium, you may want to try it with no/low sodium Hunt's. It's even better with added vegetables like onions, celery, zucchini, or mushrooms.
The most yummy and addictive breakfast/snack, and SO easy to make.
A delicious start to your day - easy-to-prepare, soy-based, dairy-free fruit smoothie
This is my customary breakfast when I am on track. It is modified from a recipe in The Hormone Diet by Dr. Natasha Turner (http://www.thehormonediet.com/), which is the diet I'm following.
Whole grain pasta and veggie shreds soy cheese makes this recipe vegetarian friendly, vegan friendly, lactose-free and can be made gluten free by changing the pasta. Super yummy and low fat. My boyfriend is obsessed and adds Hot Italian Turkey Sausage to his.
