This recipe was taken from Southern Plate but u substituted low carb wheat tortillas for the reg tortillas, and i used splenda instead of regular sugar
I wanted something with a taco flavor and came up with this recipe! I make it in the crockpot and it is AWESOME!!!
This is an easy but tasty sauce to put over your huevos (eggs) rancheros, or on burritos or tacos. It is also good fresh, with diced red onions.
This is my take on refried beans - I use dried black beans and soak them - if I am short on time I substitute in 4 cans of black beans with liquid, but I omit the salt.
The chipotle pepper creates heat (do not minced - leave whole - for more heat add 2 chipolte peppers and or 1tsp red chillies - ground. This freezes well.
You can use this as a taco sauce as well. Its mild the way its presented substitute in 1-2 TB Chipotle chili powder for the chili powder for a bit more of a kick.
A combination of other people`s recipes plus a bit of my own. Spice meter can be cranked up or lowered down by you as the temperature is controlled by the chipole pepper.
This is a great recipe - It is doubled here because I freeze the leftovers into quick lunches or dinners. Serve with a salad YUM
