This is a soup for a 7-day diet derived from one given at The Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital for overweight heart patients to lose weight rapidly, usually before surgery. It is only to be used for the 7 days, and to help prepare one to lose weight safely before surgery or for detox purposes. It is NOT meant for long term or repeated use.

A very filling soup chock full of veggies. More (or less) can be added to your liking.
I also used a can of diced tomatoes with garlic. If you can't find that, add 1 clove chopped garlic.
I served this with whole wheat egg noodles.

Bring all ingredients to boil in a large pot and then simmer for 30 - 45 minutes or until vegetables and rice are cooked to your liking.
