If you're looking for a traditional beef stew recipe, this is it! This recipe is from Julia Child's "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and in French is called "Boeuf A La Catalane". I only altered it to use less bacon, less oil, and canned tomatoes. All the original french techniques are used to make this a phenomenal melt-in-your-mouth delicacy, fit for a king!! The sauce is actually velvety, and so rich!! Just add a steamed green veggie or salad to make a complete meal!!
Super-easy sweet & Sour sauce to put over chicken, vegetables, tofu, anything you can think of.
A 2-pound whole squash yields about 4 cups of cubes. Look for tomato paste in a tube, so you can use a tablespoon at a time. Serve with cheese toast.
I substituted Bob's Red Mill Gluten Free oats and they turned out great! These burgers have a light texture, and pack a lot of flavor.
On a mission trip to Jamaica, I learned this recipe from sticking my head in and asking the cook questions about what she was cooking. I was graciously welcomed into her kitchen and given a seat to listen and watch.
Note- this is an all day stew to make the house smell wonderful.
For slow cookers. Prep time will vary depending on type of beans used (dried & canned). I used dried in this recipe.
This is how I make my sauce for both spaghetti and lasagna. I switch it up with the pasta sauce. This version uses Ragu Mushroom Sauce.
Felt like a fall soup, and although the original recipe had things I'm allergic to in it, I replaced them and added some pumpkin puree to the broth. Turns out delicious
White beans, shredded chicken, green chile, sour cream and cheese. Need I say more? These have just the right amount of kick to them and hit the spot if you're craving Mexican food. They are high in fiber and so filling (one enchilada is a perfect serving size). The easiest way for me to make shredded chicken is in my crock pot. I let it cook all day while I'm at work, then I come home and shred it and freeze the broth for other recipes. Click here for the recipe. For other great enchilada recipes try my favorite Chicken Enchiladas with Red Enchilada Sauce, or Turkey and Black Bean Enchiladas. Look for half point tortillas that are whole wheat and low carb such as La Tortilla Factory
This is my favorite turkey burger recipe.. I have them at least once a week.
NOTE: the veggies and mustard ARE included in the calorie count.
If you use a sweetened peanut butter, omit the brown sugar (or greatly reduce it). Mine had no added sugar.
You can add whatever vegetables you like.
Red Wine or Rice vinegar can be used instead of Cider.
If the peanut butter sauce is too runny, add some cornstarch and microwave for 1 min, then stir.
