Soup Recipes (Most Popular)
I made this soup because I was sick and needed something hot. I also remembered reading where cabbage soup is very filling. Because my daughters need to eat what I eat, I don't have time to make separate meals, and I knew that they would not go for just a cabbage soup I added chicken just to see how well it would go over with them. My daughters are very picky eaters and don't like a lot of different foods, however, they loved this soup and have told me that the next time I make it, why not try it without the chicken.

I didn't see any other recipes like this. I used marble rye bread, but you could use any type. I used sliced provolone cheese, but you could use any other. From Secrets of Cooking for Long Life...a great cookbook!

Prep time is listed as how long to soak the beans and cook time is listed as how long to slow cook the beans, these steps can be omitted with canned beans. However, fresh is best and the prep time can be done over night, as you sleep.
Chicken tortilla soup is pretty much the only soup my boyfriend likes, and this recipe is so tasty, he doesn't even notice there aren't tortillas! It's restaurant quality delicious!
