I am not a big pumpkin fan but my grandmas recipie is a hit at parties and tastes awesome!
This is a dish that my mother in law used to make years ago when I was first married. I think it's an old English recipe and it was one of her family's traditional Thanksgiving recipes. It's very simple and very good! The first time I tried to make it, she told that it used carrots and turnips, so I made it with carrots and turnips. YUCK!!! It turned out that turnip is the old New England name for a RUTABAGA. Once I made it with rutabagas it was delicious -- I have never had a Thanksgiving without this recipe for the past 32 years. It's amazingly simple and if you've never had it you won't believe how amazingly delicious it is! It goes so well with turkey and stuffing!!
This delicious cake is not low-cal, but it's a my favorite holiday treat! At just over 200 calories per serving, it won't break your calorie bank.
There are so many ways to make dressing, so I have combined several of the recipes that I have and come up with this one. Instead of using the canned chicken broth you can use homemade if you're making a chicken to go with this, and you can also add the shredded cooked chicken to the stuffing before baking.
This is a wonderful alternative to candied sweet potatoes, and you can change out the spices to whatever you have on hand.
I've disciovered the yumminess of pumpkin! These are GREAT and even BETTER warmed up a little in the microwave!
The rich and spicy flavors of Moroccan cuisine are the perfect way to warm up on those chilly winter nights! High in protein and flavor, these tasty meatballs make a great appetizer or entrée. You can even turn them into shish kabobs with small bamboo skewers. Don’t feel discouraged by the lengthy ingredients list – because Moroccan cooking is based on fragrant spices, many of the ingredients are repeated in both the sauce and the meatballs.
Roasing these in apple juice along with sugar free butter syrup and brown sugar blend gives them all the southern flavor with out all the fat and calories great served on thanksgiving day or any time
Yet another twist on an old favourie, this time kicking up traditional pumpkin pie with a spash of kahlua.
This is a delicious side dish to serve any time of the year, but it is also a healthy and highly nutritious dish for the Thanksgiving table!
This is my own version of this stuffing. It is absolutely tasty AND healthy! Ezekiel Bread is a dense, chewy, flour-less bread made with a variety of whole grains that are minimally processed to keep them as close as possible to what nature intended them to be. You can find it in the frozen section of healthy food grocery stores such as Whole Foods, Wild Oats or Trader Joe's. I had to guesstimate how many tbsp 10 shallots (baby onions) would be, so the calorie content may be slightly off because of that! You can also sub any loaf of whole grain bread for the Ezekiel Bread if you can't find it and vegetable broth instead of chicken if you want to keep this vegan, but it will change the calorie content of the recipe as posted. Recipe nutritional info as posted uses plain Ezekiel Bread and chicken broth.
This is an great for people who love deviled eggs but should not have the cholesterol.
My husband needed to lower his and I had to come up with an alternative
