Picnic Beef/Pork Recipes (Most Popular)
This is a recipe modified from something I invented a long time ago, back when I did survival training. The original "recipe" was squirrel meat, browned on hot rocks, along with cattail roots, wild-grown carrots (probably an old farm), one mint leaf, some wild spices, and water. I'm sure there was some ash and flies in there somewhere; that's what you get when you make stew on rocks and an uncovered metal container over an open fire. Don't worry; this recipe doesn't contain anything gross.
SparkPeople doesn't have mint, cattail roots, or squirrel as ingredients. Since most of you don't live near wetlands with cattails and you can't buy squirrel meat anyway, I substituted a parsnip and a large (3/4 pound) potato for the cattails and beef chuck for the squirrel. You can use any meat you like. I've seen goat, lamb, and other red meats in stores; go wild!
Please comment, including how many servings you get (I guess-timated four cup-plus servings) and how well it tastes with different combinations of meat and spices. It isn't for everyone, but many will like it.
Fire up the frill for a weeknight fiesta showcasing these tender, juicy steaks.
I like to serve this over sunflower cracked wheat toast , with some grated cheese , and a little plain greek yogurt on top .
My kids beg for this great pasta salad and I normally take this to summer pot-lucks. It's always a huge hit and it's so easy to make that I can wait until the last minute. I created this recipe from some ingredients I had on hand one day when I realized I didn’t have anything planned for dinner and it was too hot out to use the stove or oven for very long. We didn’t have any bread for sandwiches (a favorite in our house in the summer) and I didn’t want to run to the store. If you follow this recipe exactly, you will have a very large bowl that will easily feed 10 or more people for dinner. It’s a colorful dish that can be used as a side or a meal by itself. I hope you enjoy this dish as much as my family and friends do.
Every time I would go to a hockey game or a fair I would find these amazing Tacos in a Bag. I loved them however I wanted to find a better way to make them. I have no idea how many calories were in the original however this one is not too bad. ( that does not mean it is wonderful either.

This has become a family favorite. We cook it in the crockpot all day (or all night) & it becomes very tender & falls apart. Serve over rice or on a bun with BBQ sauce, or just eat it by itself -- it's delicious!
Really easy to make for when your in a hurry. or your can prepare it for pinics or camping trips.
