this not only is absolutely delicious, but it is a great snack or lunch for those of us trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle!!
These lentil burgers can be made as easily as meat burgers and ideal for a grill in the summer, but equally delicious cooked indoors at any time of the year! If you want to spice them up you can add a teaspoon of curry powder to give them a kick. And yes, they are gluten-free.
Who needs turkey burgers with your ex boyfriend's name in the title? ;) These are my new and improved turkey burgers.
This is the best smoothie I have made so far. I used to use ice cream for it but I tried it with yougurt today and it is awesome!!
Ok I am LOVING ABC'S Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition on Monday nights and this recipe is AMAZING! I just made it for my family this weekend. We loved it. AND the show! Those people are so inspiring. I can't wait to watch tonight's episode. Hope they keep posting more recipes!!
I had some extra vegetarian ingredients laying around the house and decided to see what came of it, and this is what I got.
I like things a bit plain, but you can add salt or pepper to taste and I'm sure it will be delicious.
this dish might actually be vegan... I think. But definitely vegetarian if not.
Low in fat and high in protein and fiber, this spin on classic mujadara is a great side dish. Throw it in a tupperware cold and it makes an equally delish (and filling) brown bag lunch! I love mujadara (a Middle Eastern dish of lentils, rice and carmelized onions), but I often overcook my rice leaving the dish a mushy mess. So I substituted one of my favorites - nutty, chewy barley - and discovered that I (and my picky toddler) prefer the newfound texture over that of the gritty/mushy aforementioned dish. This has become one of my staple vegetarian go-to meals and you'll always find a tupperware full of it in my fridge =)
These are 3 Weight Watcher's points each.
This is a "Better Homes and Gardens" recipe. The picture is just one from the internet.
This is especially attractive if you have access to heirloom tomatoes. Good served with fish or chicken, or on it's own.
Picnic friendly.
Pleasing to the eye and the tummy =)
Cool, spicy, tangy and addicting.
Tip: Doing this for a picnic? DO NOT THAW THE CORN! It will thaw by the time you need it and help keep the salad cool!
Hint: If you can't find the canned "diced tomatoe & green chillies" simply substitute w/one tomatoe and another quarter of that jalapeno pepper.
Great to prepare the night before a picnic :)
Best part of this recipe is it's not an exact science. Eyeball it and play w/the vinegars! I prefer more cilantro & jalapeno for a more "Mex" and less "Tex" taste!
Tasty low fat, super healthy and very yummy picnic or lunch treat!
55 calories per serving. You can use less or more salt/pepper as this was a but spicy. I separated and froze in zip loc bags for easy that and microwave lunch. I also used meat from a roasted whole chicken so I boiled the carcass as well then removed it.
This delicacy is richly flavoured with mint, right from our garden. It is the unbaked tart retaining all the natural components, which could be otherwise destroyed by baking. It is ready for summer and healthy refreshment, with no overload of grease. Fat is only in mascarpone, a fine Italian creamy cheese, which gives the cake a zest and palatability. This mint-shaded and -flavoured dessert is served chilled, poured with dark chocolate and mint cream, additionally flavoured with a lime that multiplies its freshness. These have a delicate taste, if you like muffins with more spice add nutmeg, cinnamon or mixed spice.
