/sourdough-dried-fruit-scones.html, these are made without any kind of added fat or eggs (and would be fat free if you use skim milk). They're a good, quick carb hit that's completely customizable and a great way to use up starter toss-off. For Easter I soaked the fruit (raisins and currants) in amaretto and made crosses on the baked scones with a confectioner's-sugar and almond extract icing.
Just rich and sweet enough without being heavy and cloying, this creamy lemon cheesecake combines the unique qualities of ricotta and mascarpone with the traditional block cream cheese to make a tangy dessert that's out of this world!
Adapted from Reinhart's The Bread Baker's Apprentice to use my whole wheat sourdough starter, this loaf makes a delicious vehicle for sandwiches of all types and due to it's slight sweetness from honey it makes excellent toast. Will make one 9x5" loaf or about 10 individual buns.
A quick, easy, and nutritious supper you can make in the microwave.
This is an easy, delicious, and healthful dessert to boost your protein intake for the day.
The nutritional info I have is for the basic recipe without the chocolate chips, nuts, or fruit added. I almost always add a mix-in because they are so tasty!
My 2 year old son loves them and asks for them regularly.
These delicious, wholesome muffins have a moist and tender crumb and aren't overly sweet. I love them in the morning with a cup of coffee. These are quite large muffins, so you could make 18 instead and that would lower the calories further.
Sweet, light and stuffed with chocolate chips, these jumbo muffins are decadent - a perfect treat after school or next to a steaming cup of coffee! The nutmeg is so subtle you barely notice it, but it harkens memories of donut shops!
Did you know you can make bakery-quality donuts in your own home? It's easier than you think! We love the chocolate glaze on these fluffy DIY donuts. Tastes like the real thing!
Adapted from foodografia to use both kinds of cheese and berries in my fridge, reduce the sugar a tad and get rid of the egg. The result is a delicious, not-too-sweet, smooth custard like dessert that won't hurt your waistline if you choose it for breakfast!
Brilliant for a chilly day, and just enough spice for a kick! This is a spinoff of a Weight Watchers recipe.
Couscous with a fruit and yoghurt (quick and easy alternative to muesli in the mornings)
Set out a platter of these creepy peepers, and your Halloween party guests are bound to do a double take.
This is an adaptation of a tasty dessert that has been a raging success in the South for the last few years. :) I adapted it to be less sweet and fattening, and the lower sugar content is noticeable. It's about the right level of sweetness for a brunch dish or light dessert. If you want a sweeter taste, it's nice served with frozen vanilla yogurt. However, if you want the original recipe proportions so that the sugar carmelizes on the bottom of the pan (even yummier!), do this: 1) Increase butter to 1 C; 2) Replace fresh apples with canned, sweetened and spiced apples (for pie); 3) Add 1.5 C sugar; 4) Decrease soda to 12 oz. NOTE: This is not a low-calorie or healthy dessert, by any means! I just needed a way to use up some Sprite. Tasty to serve guests, but not kind to your body! You could also halve the serving size and just serve one crescent roll per serving instead of two.
These are 3 Weight Watcher's points each.
This is a "Better Homes and Gardens" recipe. The picture is just one from the internet.
My take on Alfredo sauce - without the saturated fat. This recipe is pretty easy to manipulate - you can add more parmasean cheese (or romano cheese), black pepper and garlic to taste. You can't even taste the tofu, but by adding it, it gives it a source of protein therefore making it vegetarian!
(This is my first recipe I have ever added - it is pretty straightforward, and can easily be changed to your liking... please be kind LOL)
This delicious, thick pesto recipe uses almonds instead of pine nuts to add a tasty twist. Works great as a veggie dip, pasta sauce, or marinade for meat and fish!
If you like garlic, you will like this cheeseball. Butter makes it slightly creamy, but can be left out to cut calories if you prefer a denser cheeseball. I made this for a Halloween carry in and added green food coloring to make it a goblin cheeseball. The ears are tortilla chips that I painted with green food coloring and the hair is celery leaves.
