This recipe is a modification of one for curried cauliflower soup in the amazing Rawsome book by Brigitte Mars (see http://www.brigittemars.com/).
This sauce is named for ladies of the night. They would place pots of it in their windows to tempt men into the bordellos. I like it because it's spicy, fast and easy (no disrespect to the ladies).
I got this recipe from a book called American Wholefoods Cuisine and adapted it to lower fat ingredients.
A great way to have a light dinner with many different kinds of fillings. The honey would be if you wanted desert crepes. Leave out for savory or dinner crepes. This recipe is nice because you only have to let it sit for 15 minutes instead of like 30 to 60 before.
I'm not a cottage cheese or olive fan normally, but I love this recipe! It's a healthy, hearty stuffed tomato meal.
Great as a side dish or main course. This is a healthy, creative dish with a mediterranean flair.
I made tomato sauce from scratch for the first time and it turned out so good, I went a little crazy. To skin and seed a bushel of plum tomatoes takes hours (for one person) and then the cooking time is another few hours. This is a long project, but well worth the time. I tried my hand at jarring the sauce and it worked very well, but it can be frozen in small batches too. The recipe can also be reduced for a smaller quantity of tomatoes - the amount of onion and garlic is "to taste" as are the spices.
Delicious salad Spanish style. The secret to this recipe is to chop everything up really, really small.
This is a hearty, healthy breakfast that can have many variations. Substitute any (or no) fruit or nut, and use any (or no) sweetener you choose. This example is banana-walnut, but my husband uses blueberries and no nuts. Use your favorites!
But plan ahead -- needs to be partially made the night before. No cooking needed!
The sweetness of the maple flavored syrup compliments the slight bitterness of the rutabaga. Easy to prepare, and great with just about any meal as a side dish.
Applies to vegetarian, gluten free, low cal, low carb, low fat, sugar free diets.
This is good served with broiled/grilled pork chops or chicken breast and cranberry orange relish or applesauce.
This is a hearty summer dish that goes well with a big fresh salad with a light dressing on it.
Guests can sip this festive, zesty soup from small cups or glasses. Notes: Pimentón de La Vera is a Spanish paprika that adds a smoky, sweet intensity, but Hungarian or regular paprika work too. Prep and Cook Time: 30 minutes.
