An old Christmastime family favorite! No baking! Super easy & cheap to make, and with only 2 ingredients they're a "healthier" holiday treat than most others! Great for satisfying those chocolate cravings!
A great tasting smoothie packed full of flavor, protein and anti-oxidents. Can use different flavored protein powders to change the taste or values as you see fit. I get mine from GNC and the Acai from Whole Foods Stores. I freeze my bananas when they first start to turn so I can use them in my smoothies.
This is a big family favorite! Use fat free cheese to really bring the fat down. I was tempted to use corn tortillas, but they're not quite the same.
This is a light and tasty salad best used as an accompaniment. Great for BBQ's.
Makes 4 cups - each serving 1 TBSP
Apple butter is a highly concentrated form of apple sauce, produced by long, slow cooking of apples with cider or water to a point where the sugar in the apples caramelizes, turning the apple butter a deep brown. The concentration of sugar gives apple butter a much longer shelf life as a preserve than applesauce. Apple butter was a popular way of using apples in colonial America, and well into the 19th century. The term “butter” refers to the thick, soft consistency, and apple butter’s use as a spread for breads. Typically seasoned with cinnamon, cloves, lemon juice and other spices, apple butter may be spread on buttered toast, used as a side dish, an ingredient in baked goods, or as a condiment.
My adaptation of a traditional Moroccan recipe. The main substitutions are stevia powder for honey and freeze-dried apricot pieces for raisins. I find the Garlic/Ginger paste at Asian markets. If you don't have it, substitute 3 cloves minced garlic and 1 Tablespoon minced fresh ginger root.
This is a wonderfully moist and delicious recipe. Oatmeal baked with bananas, blueberries, cinnamon, honey and walnuts, oh my!
A fast, warm soup for crisp nights. The original recipe did not include the chicken and corn, but I added it to stretch the recipe a little farther.
