Recipe is extremely malleable. Originally had stale bread rather than rice, bacon rather than sausage, no nuts, heavy whipping cream, gouda cheese, scallions rather than onion, thyme rather than sage, no apple.

They asked for sausage, but the store had no turkey sausage, so I did this instead. I also forgot to add the mushrooms. Just totally forgot! So add them if you've got them. And if you happen to have parsley lying around, toss that in as well.
