A new spin on Shepherd's Pie, vegetarian.

This is my first recipe I am entering, so forgive the lack of detail. I love Shepards pie and this is my favorite recipe I think I have ever had so far.

I browsed other recipes and customized this for myself. Rachel Ray had the best explained recipe I could find here:

I used beef, not turkey and I had no bananas or hot sauce so I used Red Cayanne Pepper sparingly in the Sweet Potatoes. I always season to taste, today I used Salt and Pepper.

Shepherd’s Pie is originally an English dish, traditionally made with lamb or mutton. I wanted to create a different version using sweet potato.

This is a low salt comfort food loved by our family, especially on cold days.

This is NOT your traditional sweet potato pie. I always wanted to try a purple yam/sweet potato pie since I saw a photo of it. I decided for portion control, I would make the tart size. This is the first time I am making them this way. So here goes!

This recipe creates its own thin crust and can easily be made vegan.

A recipe I found in Hungry-Girl cookbook. It's delicious! I didn't add the marshmallows on the top and it was still good. If you do add marshmallows, be sure to include in your count.

This pie will knock your socks off! I make it without pie crusts to save LOTS of calories! Recipe makes two pies, eight slices each. A nice Christmas alternative to yet another pumpkin pie! Better texture than pumpkin, and you only need three sweet potatoes for two pies!

This tastes like the love child of a pumpkin pie and a fruit cobbler. It's a hearty, healthy, and low fat side dish or dessert. It's pretty high in carbs for my tastes, from the oats and wheat flour, so I like to pair it with a lower carb, higher protein main dish and a generous helping of steamed kale. Can you tell i'm from the south?
