By Tracy Russell of Incredible Smoothies. "This is a nice creamy strawberry vanilla smoothie. Strawberries help protect against rheumatoid arthritis and have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory properties. Pears are packed full of fiber to help you lose weight.
I like to sneak extra vegetables into my green smoothies so I added a small vine tomato (technically, tomatoes are a fruit). If you donít like them or donít want to add it, go ahead and leave it out.
You can make this smoothie with 1 cup of blueberries instead of strawberries. You can also enjoy this green smoothie without the vanilla flavoring, or add an additional flavor fruit that complements the strawberries. This smoothie isnít all fruit either. Both carrots and romaine lettuce add minerals and extra vitamin A (as beta-carotene).
This green smoothie recipe is rich in antioxidants like anthocyanins, which give the cherry its red color. It is this antioxidant that studies have shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and may help with symptoms of arthritis. Eating cherries may also help reduce the risk of heart disease and certain cancers (breast and colon).
