This makes a great alternative to tomato sauce for pizza and can be made with either rice milk or regular milk. If using regular milk you will have to adjust to nutritional information. As well, you'll need to add a bit of sweetner ie. sugar, maple syrup, honey. If you want this sauce to be garlicky, then add a tsp of minced garlic when you are melting the butter.

My favorite toppings for this pizza sauce are stir-fried chicken and broccali or roasted veggies. I usually top it with either mozzarella cheese or goat's cheese.

I got this from Fanny Farmer Cookbook. This is a very plain version to which I might add cheese, parsley or other ingredients depending on how I need to use the sauce.

This is a dish common around at least North Africa. I encountered it in Libya.

Makes 9"x13" pan about 12 pieces.
Plain Bechemel Sauce
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp flour
2 to 3 c milk warmed
melt butter add flour, whisk for about a minute, whisk in milk. Warm on med heat until it begins to thicken. Remove from heat.

Perfect sauce for tricking the kids we're off the diet!!
Team with pasta and vege for lasange or other pasta bake type meals which the kids love :)

Lasagna with fresh egg pasta, Bechamel sauce, calamari, shrimp and bay scallops.

This vegan white sauce (bechamel) pasta is hearty and soul pleasing when you need some comfort food. I've been vegan for awhile, but was really craving some fattening pasta and with this being 7 weight watchers points for a serving, I don't feel like I've blown it. Enjoy!

Ive tried using the chicken broth instead of the butter to save calories. i'll try to use skimmed milk next time for even less calories
